Road-trip to the Delta

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted anything. Late Wednesday night I found out that my student would not be coming Thursday or Friday. I already knew my parents were going to visit my brother at Delta State and I really wanted to go! So Thursday morning I loaded up Audrey Claire and we hit the road. Seth couldn't go because he had work and school.
We were able to visit with SO many people while we were gone. I am going to break our trip into several posts. If I made it only one, you would be reading until Christmas.

We will start with Jackson. I decided this would be a good place to meet my parents and Seth's grandmother-Mawmaw June- lives there so we could visit with her before we left for Cleveland. Audrey Claire loves going to her house! There is a cute little puppy that she loves to chase around! Here is Mawmaw June feeding AC. Notice how AC is NOT holding her bottle. She CAN hold it, she just chooses not to. We will break this laziness one day!
Audrey Claire loved playing at Mawmaw June's house. Not only was there a dog, there was a house full of thing for her to get into! While exploring, she found this basket full of toys! Did she want to play with the toys? No. She just wanted to empty the basket! Then she was done and was ready to move on.
After a short visit in Jackson, we were off to the Delta. I lived in Cleveland for two years while I was at Delta State. I was excited to get to visit with friends but oh my, how I DO NOT miss that drive. Don't get me wrong, I have an appreciation for the Delta and I used to love driving up and down the highway seeing the cotton, corn, or soybeans growing; but this time of year when the fields are bare, it can be a little boring. Ok, really boring! Until you see one of these. DRIVING down the road.
That's right, not in a field. We passed this combine while driving on Highway 61. The picture is blurry because we were going so fast passing it! Only in the Delta can you see this kind of stuff. Only in the Delta...
This next one was actually in the field instead of on the road. And you see that tree-line in the distance? Looks so close but it's probably ten miles away. You can just about see that far in the distance because it's so flat.
Ok I really got side tracked there. Sorry. Back to our visit- We weren't going to be in Cleveland long and I had a long list of people I wanted to see and introduce Audrey Claire to. We started with the Parkers- Mr. Donnie, Mrs. DeLisa, and Allyson. This is a precious family who makes it their mission to care for college kids. I can't tell you how many times they fed me and encouraged me, especially during the summer of 2007. That time was crazy for me. I lived in Cleveland away from my family, babysat two of my favorite little girls every day, took 2 summer classes, found and moved to a new apartment and planned our wedding. All while Seth was on the other side of the world! I wouldn't have made it without this sweet family. Audrey Claire enjoyed meeting them and playing with some of Allyson's toys.
This post got long pretty quick so I will stop here. But don't worry, I have lots more to inform you about! Stay tuned for several more posts!
